Tortured Rationale

Despite all evidence to the contrary, the President maintains "we don't torture". To properly evaluate Cheney's pitch for a CIA exemption, it's only fair to put it in context. After all, how many people really do know what has or hasn't been the spook norm for the last few decades? It's the reason this next piece is so important. ITV has former CIA director Stansfield Turner's take on the Vice President. $Q:
"We have crossed the line into dangerous territory".

Cheney's a menace.

Their doomsday scenario -- the lone perpetrator nabbed, thousands of lives hanging in the balance -- is a loser.

Either some poor schmuck who doesn't know anything will be cruelly tortured and... doomsday will happen; or the determined perpetrator will lie and give them the runaround until... doomsday happens. This is Security?!

Torture puts thousands of lives at risk. Giving it the green light only gives the green light to "enemies" to torture any captured US forces and their allies!

It's been plain creepy watching this administration try to undermine the spirit of The Geneva Convention; now actively advocating torture.

I think their actions scream only one thing to the world community: WE HAVE NO INTELLIGENCE GATHERING CAPABILITIES!

Think we'd all be a lot safer if they invested their time, energy and resources in developing these capabilities rather than promoting torture like some cheapo, tin-pot, despotic regime.

Then they could discover the "doomsday plan" before it's enacted; then they could discover the "doomsday device" without the help of the perpetrator! What a concept!
